Dorian Gray

There’s a killer on the loose and he’s stalking the streets of south London

Living a life of murderous debauchery

Disappearing into the night like a mystical phantom

Nobody knows who he is or he’s likely to be

My picture in the attic, on inspection tells a different story

My eternal youth ain’t exactly as it seems

A life of deceitful cheating spread out before me

A waking nightmare full of vivid dreams

*

Policeman says is it me

Policeman’s building his case

Policeman’s giving me first degree

But I say just look at my face, just look at my face, just look at my face

*

The picture in the attic it tells such different story

The picture in the attic is creature on the verge of decay

The picture in the attic is of evil screaming purgatory

The picture in the attic is of me and I am Dorian Gray,

I am Dorian Gray      I am Dorian Gray       I am Dorian Gray

*

Leaving behind a dark trail of bloodied destruction

Sinking to the depths of unheard of depravity

Victims subject to gross humiliation

Crimes of a heinous, nauseous gravity

*

Policeman can’t make it stick

But guilt is getting to me

So while he’s missing a trick

I’ve gotta find a way, gotta find a way, gotta find a way of setting me free

*

I’m gonna rip that picture up

I’m gonna tear that picture down

I’m gonna show the world the truth

Written across my brow, across my brow

I love Oscar Wilde. Especially his one and only novel, “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. The whole concept of a cursed painting that takes on all your guilt and shame while you leaving fresh and youthful looking intrigues me. Unfortunately there isn’t one available on Amazon… I’ve looked. – Paul
