Songs

Alleluia

Poor and hopeless sat upon this rock I stare across the hills towards the town

I may be bold but let me tell you it gets cold When the sun goes down

There are a dozen of us here keeping watch Over our master’s sheep

And in the morning with the rising of the sun We catch up on our sleep

Alleluia

We watch for thieves and predators, we’re always  ready to take on a fight

But nothing could prepare us for the large Angelic chorus or the blinding light

Shielding our eyes from the vision in the skies we fell in one accord

The host began to sing, at volumes way past deafening, one single word

Alleluia

An angel said, ‘Get off your knees for we have come to you in peace with joyful news.

For unto you is born this day, in Bethlehem, not far away king of the Jews

So run to him, don’t be afraid to where his mother gently laid him

In some straw And you will be the first to find the future hope for all mankind, forever more

Alleluia

Poor and hopeless sat upon this rock I stare across the hills towards the town

I wrote Alleluia when we were asked to play something at Christmas for our local church. I liked the idea of men living a simple life suddenly being overwhelmed before having to go back to normality again. – Paul
