Treading on Eggshells

I don’t know if it’s right or wrong,

But when I’m with you I just go along

With everything you say and do,

‘Cos I don’t want to be the one who upsets you

It’s not that you scare me or because I don’t care

But you have opinions which you’re likely to share

And it’s hard for me to hold my tongue

But I don’t want to be the one who disagrees with you.

 

So I’m treading on eggshells, keeping the peace

How can I tell you that I don’t like the way

That you smoke cigarettes at the start of the day

How can I admit to having a fit

Every time that you say, you’ll be spending the day buying shoes

I hate the way you leave a mess on the floor

Or go to the bathroom without closing the door

I just smile with a grin, keeping it in

Cos I don’t want a fight or be the one who lights your fuse

 

So I’m treading on eggshells, keeping the peace

Just one mistake and I’m likely to wake up the fire breathing dragon inside

Spitting fire from her head as she rips me to shreds with a fury that few could survive
